Local Authorities Election Act (Bill 29) states contributions may be accepted from individuals only and to a maximum of $5000. Corporations, unions or unincorporated organizations/numbered companies may not contribute. Bill 29 prohibits issuance of CRA “tax credits for political contributions” for Municipal and School Board Trustee elections.

Candidates are required to disclose the name and address of all donors exceeding $50. Any campaign surplus will be donated to a registered charity.
